Our Story
Blacksmith Artist Lorenzo Fortunato has been creating functional art in Austin, Texas for over 2 decades. Inspired by his uncle in Italy during his boyhood, Lorenzo spent much of his free time watching and learning this ancient craft and mastered the skills of hand forging.
As a young man, Lorenzo left Italy to see more of the world and, eventually, his travels landed him in Austin. That was the beginning of “Italian Iron Works.” Artistry and Fine Craftsmanship through the centuries old practice of hand forged iron.
Lorenzo’s functional designs are works of art – from traditional to contemporary. Designs range from exquisite fireplace screens, functional art, iron gates and railings. His work expresses passion, beauty, detail, and craftsmanship. Lorenzo keeps the ancient craft alive in modern times…serving Austin since 1992.
